The IEA laboratory provides you with reliable and rare expertise in the analysis of the antioxidant activity of your cosmetic products: identification of molecules and active ingredients, characterization of their antioxidant properties, dosing and calibration with its PAOT® Index (Anti- Oxidant Power Total) which is the subject of a patent application.

Our researchers rely on a database of some 4,000 molecules with proven antioxidant activity, a perfect knowledge of the regulatory framework specific to each field of application, a perpetual technological watch and a systematic analysis of the strategies of the main competitors.

All our formulations are subjected to the necessary tests in accordance with the regulations in force and we also check the biocompatibility with your different matrices.

The effectiveness of the active ingredients that we offer is proven by objective studies (in vitro, in vivo tests, etc.) allowing an effective promotion of the products on the marketing side.

Analysis of the total antioxidant power of cosmetic products

The IEA has developed the PAOT® Index, which characterizes the total antioxidant power of cosmetic products. This index makes it possible to compare the antioxidant power of cosmetic preparations with each other. There are 2 versions: one for in vitro measurements and comparisons, the other for in vivo measurements and comparisons, in particular to measuring the bioavailability of antioxidants in the body.

Argumentation and marketing promotion of the antioxidant properties of your cosmetics

How to compare the antioxidant properties between several cosmetics? How can one assert the superiority of the antioxidant activity of one cosmetic product over another? How to argue the antioxidant properties of its cosmetics to consumers?

These are difficult questions that the IEA knows how to answer with its technologies and its experience in the field. We are able to offer laboratories and manufacturers, who so request a labeling of their cosmetic products, with a calibration of their total oxidizing power.

The products contained in a cosmetic product pass the skin barrier: wrinkles, loss of tension, complexion are natural candidates for cosmetics enriched with antioxidants.

Oxidative stress and skin aging clinical studies

The IEA analysis laboratory has the unique ability to conduct specific studies at the clinical, physicochemical and cellular levels (in-vivo, in-vitro and ex-vivo studies).

For example, we can carry out studies on skin aging or the role of antioxidants to fight against oxidative stress which affects the quality of the skin.

It is scientific proof that the oxidation process leads to the formation of free radicals which attack skin structures, damaging collagen and elastic fibers, altering hydration; which leads to the appearance of aesthetic defects on the skin including wrinkles.

As a general rule, people who apply “effective” cosmetics, that is, cosmetics with high antioxidant effectiveness, will have healthier skin.
